Reclaimed Victorian bricks make stunning contemporary surfaces!

Here is an example of a project where reclaimed London Stock bricks are being upcycled into new solid surfaces. Manufactured here in the UK, these terrazzo surfaces will be installed in a refurbished church and new office for an architect’s practice.

Once the bricks are retrieved, they are crushed and the brick aggregate is then cast in a low carbon cement binder. T
he results are always interesting, often surprising and generally stunning!

When we blend the brick with a second aggregate (such as slate in this example) the aesthetics adopt a lively character. Some pieces of slate lie flat, whilst others are embedded as slithers which adds movement to the new surface.
